The city of Sidi Bou Said today counts a population of 4800 inhabitants.

Sidi Bou Said is an important touristic center, it is one of the most visited sites around the Mediterranean Sea and welcomes up to 100 000 guests a day during the weekends and in summer.

Sidi Bou Saïd, a green city and recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO

The total area of the municipality is 217 hectares half of which is covered with green spaces. It is the realm of pine trees and eucalyptus.

This exceptional natural site is recognized as having some of the world's most beautiful scenic spots. It figures in the list of UNESCO's world heritage sites under the name Carthage-Sidi Bou Said.

Sidi Bou Saïd, ancient municipality

Sidi Bou Said's municipality was created by the Beylical Decree dated February 5th, 1893.
Its territory is bordered on the northeast and the southeast by the Mediterranean Sea, on the southwest by the municipality of Carthage and on the northwest by the municipality of La Marsa.
