In Sidi Bou Saïd, it is necessary to make the effort to go beyond the main street. The village is gradually understood throughout a walk rich in discoveries.

For decades, the kahoua el Alia, the café des Nattes, has awaiting passer-by at the top of the main street. This café is settled in the former entrance of the mosque.

A zaouïa is a Muslim religious building. The one in Sidi Bou Saïd is located newt to the mosque in the center of the village.

Built in the XIIIth century, then reorganized in the XVIIIth century, Dar el-Annabi is the former summer palace of the mufti Mohamed El-Annabi. The house contains 50 rooms.

From 1910 on, the baron of Erlanger settled down in this house which he had built on Sidi Bou Saïd's hill. After a 10 years' works which saw the Maghreb's best craftsmen intervene, the Ennejma EzZarah palace (" star of Venus ") was completed and now covers an area of 2000 square meters with a five hectare terrace garden. The palace respects the standards of the Andalusian architecture. (*)
