Numerous Tunisian families live from the traditional arts and crafts. Be it pottery, the work of the leather and copper or wrought iron cages, the know-how is ancestral. While staying in Sidi Bou Saïd, admiring these realizations is a must. They are found in various arts and crafts shops.

Nabeul and Djerba aeras are rich in clay. The work of pottery in Tunisia goes back to the Neolithic.

The Machmoum is a small bouquet or necklace made of jasmine flowers or fell. It is sold in summer in the afternoon or in the evening.

The story of the cage is simple: in the 60s a man finds a crushed cage in Sidi Bou Saïd, he collects it and, out of it crafts new one. From then on, the activity of iron cage making became a speciality of the village. The cages are  made out of wood and iron, with intricate design of curves and straight lines.
